Data shows more mothers making child support payments

A recent survey was done by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and found that the number of mothers that are paying child support and alimony payments is increasing.

Nearly 56 percent of the top attorneys in the nation have stated that there has been an increase in the number of mothers that make child support and alimony payments.

There are many reasons why this could be happening, but one explanation may be the continually increasing professional success of women in their careers. In many cases, they are making more money than their spouse. This new trend is not only affecting payments, but also the amount of time that children are staying with their father.

If you or a loved one has recently been divorced, you need representation on your side that may be able to help you receive the child support or alimony payments that you deserve. Contact the Monmouth child support lawyers of the Law Office of Andrew A. Bestafka, Esq., in order to have legal professionals determine alimony payments for you and your family.

Changes proposed to alimony laws in New Jersey.

New laws in the New Jersey Assembly could possibly completely change the alimony laws in the state.

The first proposed law asked for an 11-member commission be created in order to review all of the laws and possibly reform them. Another bill that was cleared earlier this week states that the alimony and child support payments can be changed if a person who owes the money has a significant change in income such as unemployment or temporary disability.

Another proposed legislation asks to put an end to the lifetime alimony payments that are ordered by the court. The current New Jersey law states that no matter how long the marriage, lifetime alimony can be set and there are no set rules on payments changing with retirement or remarriage.
